Dear Sherri,

Greetings!

With the early arrival of warm weather, we are seeing nature's artful creativity burst forth in quick fashion. Artful creativity of the human kind is also in full blossom, as theater groups begin to open their seasons, children display their talents at the "Young at Art" Exhibition at the Rood County Government Center, and professional artists are busily painting and preparing for exhibitions and summer art festivals. (As an example, note the articles on First Friday Art Walks and the Summer Fest Arts Festival!)  The air is filled not only with birdsong, but the sounds of arts organizations such as InConcertSierra and Music In the Mountains, and the Center for the Arts hard at work producing their beautiful offerings to the local community.

In the midst of all this, NCArts is also energetically at work on a number of projects. Our collaboration with Music In the Mountains to produce a fine arts festival in conjunction with Summer Fest is at a critical juncture. We need to generate enough artist booth submissions before the end of March to move forward with this project. See the article below for more information and link to register for the Summer Fest Arts Festival.

We are also busily working independently or teaming with other organizations to submit five different grant proposals, 4 of which range in size from $2,500 to $70,000, and the fifth possibly worth millions of dollars.

Another support for artists is our Gallery Exhibition Program. Ron Kenedi is our next featured artist displaying at the NCArts Micro-Gallery. Check out the article below for more information about his Exhibition (March 10 through April 30) and the Artists Reception on April 9.

Working on behalf of the arts in Nevada County is what NCArts is all about. Your membership and participation in NCArts truly lifts the quality of life in our community. Every dollar in membership is matched several times over by grants and additional funding for the arts in Nevada County.  Individual memberships begin at $35 a year. Please leverage your enjoyment and support of the arts by renewing or starting your membership in Nevada County Arts!
We hope to see you as a member in 2015!

Focus on a Member:
Ron Kenedi
"I want the artwork to be a catalyst for the viewer's own interpretation and provide meaning beyond the work itself."

Born and raised in New York, and studying Fine Arts at Stony Brook University in the seminal 1960's, Ron Kenedi's art is a personal, vibrant reflection of the many eclectic places and times he's lived in.

Working in pencil, charcoal, pen/brush and ink, pastels, watercolors, acrylics and oil paint, Ron's work evokes tones of the classic masters he was influenced by, including Vermeer, Matisse, and Picasso. At the same time, his bold lines, adventurous colors and dramatic shading undeniably reflect the essence of Jazz, R&B, and other pioneering voices from his formative years.

Ron has had gallery showings in New York, Spain, Northern California, Los Angeles, and the former Auschwitz concentration camp, and for the last 30 years has also had an active role in the corporate world. He ran the US operations of three global corporations and traveled the world promoting the use of solar electric power. But he has never stopped producing art. "Art has provided the counter-weight to my corporate activities and enabled me to lead a balanced life."
"Sonny Boy Williamson"

Nevada County Arts is pleased to be exhibiting thework of the artist in their Gallery Exhibition Program for March and April.
