My name is Rob Mogel, and my company, French Canvas (
www.FrenchCanvas.com), is excited to be manufacturing and selling a new, innovative product line that we believe will help you to increase the perceived value of your artwork.
Remove the objections from selling your paintings!
Galleries are reluctant to sell paintings under glass; unknowledgeable collectors are reluctant to purchase artwork under glass. If a pastel painting is framed with a mat, the visual impact immediately announces that the painting is under glass, even if you have used high quality non-reflective museum glass.
The best way to eliminate the objection is to frame your painting without a mat. The best way to create a pastel painting is on a substrate with substance. Enter
True Grit Pastel Panel by French Canvas!
True Grit Pastel Paperby French Canvas, a ph neutral, top quality pastel paper is adhered to lightweight, durable gatorboard panels to create True Grit Pastel Panels (see picture below). The panels are available in five different grits: 280, 400, 500, 600, & 800. Pastel paper can easily rip or tear, ruining your artwork. Adhering the paper to a panel offers a more durable substrate for your artwork. No longer will you need a mat when framing. The panels are available in a wide range of standard and unique sizes. French Canvas is the king of "custom". If you need a special size, it's no problem for us to make it for you. Buy the panels by the unit or in a pack of four for additional savings. Although we have been selling product in the Oil, Acrylic, and Plein Air Markets for over ten years, we are new to the Pastel Market. As a small company it is often challenging to enter new markets like the Pastel Market. Some of you may have met me and examined my product True Grit Pastel Panels by French Canvas at the recent PSA Materials Fair in New York. Others of you, who are plein air painters, may have met me at the Plein Air Convention in Monterey earlier this year.
We consider ourselves a web based Mom and Pop company located in Hamilton, New Jersey and take pride in offering top notch products and customer service. As such, we will custom cut any size True Grit Pastel up to 48" x 96".
Do you like the idea of adhering your artwork to a hard surface but like using your own type of paper? We also carry a product line called Dry Mounting Boards that allows you to easily adhere your artwork to a gatorboard panel. This product can be ordered by clicking on

From time to time, I will let you know about new products or any special offers we have of which you may want to take advantage. And I want to hear from you with your thoughts, needs, and suggestions. That way we both win!
