Mountain climbing was a major part of my life growing up in Tirol, Austria. I was fortunate to climb with highly experienced guides who took me to peaks with fantastic aerial views. This probably has influenced my continued interest in painting compositions with aerial perspectives. I have been credited with being a pioneer in painting aerials of the Sacramento Valley and the Delta areas.
Recently, my painting "Delta Waterways No. 2" was selected as a primary painting for the "Delta Forever" exhibit at  the Shimo Gallery in Sacramento. My work has been acquired for corporate, medical, public and residential permanent collections in the USA and Europe. The University of California Medical Center in Sacramento has a large number of my landscape paintings. The respected King Oral Surgery Center in Rocklin has acquired many of my paintings. And, the GFBB Benefits in Roseville commissioned me to produce a large number of  paintings for their wonderful new offices.  I have had my work accepted for the Crocker Art Museum juried art auction for over twenty years. I have been designated as a ""Special Collection Artist" by KVIE Channel 6 in respect to the juried art auction. I have had major exhibits at the Blue Line Gallery in Roseville, California where I have been a long time member.  Recently my paintings were exhibited in a group show at The Temp Gallery and The Sutter Club in Sacramento. Most recently I have a large solo exhibit at the beautiful Flower Farm venue in rural Loomis. My book titled "Colorfields" documents my body of work related to aerial perspective paintings.
I am co-owner of Ibex Fine Art which provides high quality fine art for corporate, medical, public and residential venues. Over the last twenty years the Autumn Art Studio Tour has been a significant factor in the success of our business as it has linked me with art clients who value my work and commissioned me for large installations. I look forward to another studio tour where I can share my vision and techniques in my studio located in beautiful rural Loomis, California.

"My artwork is the result of everyday observations with color playing a major component"

As I go about my day, moments when I drop my kid at school or park or talk with my friends, form the background of my artwork. I am inspired when I read or see a photograph or flip through a magazine. The subject matter of my paintings holds many memories and often have personal context. My mediums are principally oil and pencil. They allow me to layer and blend colors. Both mediums give a textural feel to the paintings. Oils especially allow me to mix colors on the canvas.

I have drawn and colored as a child and doodled along with note taking in college. My education in architecture elevated my drawing skills. My school art teachers encouraged me to participate in competitions and I learned a lot of foundation skills from another teacher who is also an abstract Indian painter. I took weekend classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of Art in Philadelphia where I learned to paint in oil for the first time. I loved this medium and wondered why did I wait so long to learn it? My instructors were fabulous and encouraged me to hone my skills in oil, sketching and painting from live models.  My other medium, color pencils is my old favorite. I enhanced the hatching method learned during architectural rendering to produce textured layered coloring in my drawings. The easy mobility and no mess aspect of pencils allow me to take that and a sketchbook on my vacations and I try to come back with either completed paintings or ideas for future paintings. I also like using graphite pencil, pen, watercolor and oil crayons.

My art draws influences from my heritage as well as my experiences and travel in United States. I have painted and sketched still life, statuary and live models in oil, pencil or graphite. My travel to Monterey or a trip to the local playground results in paintings like "Monterey" and "Trucks in playground". Since I grew up in Mumbai, India; I try to bring the tropical warmth and bright colors in my paintings. One of my early paintings was inspired by Indian miniature paintings which I rendered with bright colors to express the divine dance of God Krishna. This painting and other early sketches from my college days which led to my painting "Fisherwomen" set the tone of my work. Some work start as a sketch, then a pencil drawing and finally into an oil while some stand alone as an oil, pencil and any other medium. Drawing and painting would have remained my hobby but for my family and friends who encouraged me to take it to a professional level. Now my paintings not only hang in USA and India but also in England and Turkey.
I would like to invite you to visit my studio during the Autumn Art Studios Tour 2015.
